Ajusco Riding Holidays
This is a special program for 5 days and 4 nights; you will get to experience the beautiful surroundings of Ajusco National Park on a horseback!
During this special program for 5 days and 4 nights you will get to experience Ajusco Natural Park surroundings on a horseback and stay in a real Mexican Ranch. We will climb up to 13 ft (4000 meters) to see one of the oldest inactive volcanoes of the zone, visit a hidden village, seek for a herd of wild horses and lots more! The almost 50-year-old Ranch is all about authentic atmosphere and personalized service; you will feel yourself like at home!
Day 1: Arrival
We’ll meet you at the Mexico City airport and drive you straight to the Ranch. Take a tour around the installations and meet the horses, maybe take a margarita and wait for a delicious, buffet-style dinner! Daily changing menus and local specialties like cheese - stuffed – huauzontles and creamy salmon with chipotle will blow your mind! Quality wines are always served with dinner and lunch. Let our staff help you get comfortable and discover all the amenities.
Day 2: Ajusco Surroundings
On your second day at the Ranch, we will take you for a short ride for about two to three hours in the morning. You will get to climb up a hill where there are usually hundreds of goats and sheep enjoying the day and eating green grass. After lunch in the afternoon, we will ride to a nearby volcano from where a great view to Mexico City opens; it’s just marvelous when the sun sets on this huge capital.
Day 3: Hidden Villages and Wild Horses
Now that you got a feeling on the horses and got to do two shorter trails, you should be ready for a half-day in the saddle! Today we will take you to a 5-hour-trail to a hidden village called Capulín, where you will have the opportunity to purchase locally prepared beverage called “Conejo” or maybe just an ice-cold “cerveza”. This beautiful village has only about 300 habitants and the nearest city is about 2 hour drive away and if we are lucky, there is a possibility to spot a herd of wild horses on our way.
Day 4: Mountain Riding
On your fourth day at the Ranch, we will take you for a 4 to 5 hour trail to an enormous inactive volcano you can see all the way from the Ranch. Now that you probably are used to the altitude, it’s the perfect timing to climb even higher to 13 feet above sea level. The view is absolutely amazing from the top of this volcano. After lunch, we can take you to Downtown Ajusco for some shopping and sightseeing, or maybe you would like to skip a day of riding and do a tourist excursion to one of the many sights in the City.
Day 5: Departure
If you have an early flight to catch - we will serve you a breakfast before it’s time to go and one of our drivers will drive you to the airport upon request. In case your flight leaves at night, you will have time to do one last trail nearby the Ranch and we will accommodate with lunch and dinner to your schedule.
